Myobrace Therapy in Fayetteville, AR
Is your child having issues – breathing through their nose, dental crowding, crooked teeth, underdeveloped jaws, narrow arches, or a gummy smiles?
We believe in helping your child grow to their potential and help correct dental issues early before they are permanent and needing more advanced orthodontic procedures for correction.
Why do we love Myobrace?
Myobrace is a method of orthodontic treatment that helps align teeth and jaws, working with or without other orthodontic treatment methods. It helps correct conditions and poor oral habits that can cause poor alignment and other issues. Poor oral habits can develop into incorrect breathing patterns in your child which often lead to trouble concentrating, interrupted sleep, a compromised immune system, and even pediatric sleep apnea.
It is a series of flexible appliances worn overnight while sleeping and for 1-2 hours during the day. Each day patients perform a series of activities to improve their tongue posture, muscle function, and breathing. While the appliances are correcting oral habits, they also allow for further expansion of the jaw in order to obtain correct arch development, dental alignment, and retention.
Myobrace treatment goals:
- Corrects poor oral habits
- Develops & Aligns the jaws
- Straightens the teeth
- Optimizes facial development
- Improves airway health
- Healthier facial muscles
Myobrace is designed to deal with incorrect oral habits by teaching children to breathe through their nose, rest the tongue correctly in the roof of the mouth, swallow correctly and continue widening the jaws so they grow to their full and proper size.
Who will benefit from Myobrace therapy?
Did you know, 3 out of 4 children have crowded teeth and incorrectly developing jaws? Modern research has shown that crowded teeth, incorrect jaw development and other orthodontic problems are not caused by big teeth in a small jaw. Mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, reverse swallowing and thumb sucking can be the cause of improper growth of the jaw. Allergies, asthma, and an open mouth posture also contribute to incorrect jaw development.
The Myobrace system is suitable for a wide variety of orthodontic concerns, with a range of solutions available for most patients. It is designed to work most effectively for patients in early childhood through teens. We are able to screen for poor oral habits as early as two and treat patients well into adulthood. We are so excited to be able to offer a solution for our patients to get them the help they need.
