If you are in pain, there is something wrong. Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something isn’t right. It could be damage inside your, it could be an acute infection, or it could be a chronic condition that is causing the problem.

Whatever the problem is, if you are having pain, call our Fayetteville dental office to schedule an appointment. We will get you in as fast as possible so that we can assess the pain, diagnose the problem, and then provide the treatment you need to feel better.

Tooth Pain

There are a few different things that can cause tooth pain. One thing that can cause tooth pain is a cavity that reaches the nerve in the center of the tooth. This infection needs to be treated to get the patient out of pain.

Sometimes, treatment can be an extraction, and sometimes, it can be a root canal. If we can get to the cavity before the infection reaches the nerve, then a filling may be able to be done without having to do a root canal or an extraction.

Bad Bite (Malocclusion)

Another thing that can cause tooth pain is actually a bad bite. When a person's bite is not even and they hit harder on one or two teeth than on their other teeth, this can cause their teeth to become sore. This can also lead to headaches and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain.

With our doctors advanced training, we are able to notice the subtle differences in a patient's bite and provide treatment accordingly.

Sometimes, we are able to adjust the bite so that all the teeth are hitting evenly and relieve the pain this way. Other times, we will actually make the teeth that are not hitting well taller with a little bonding to even out the bite. Orthodontics (braces) are even needed sometimes.

Gum Infections

Gum infection can cause pain in certain situations. Most of the time, gum infections are painless, but they can cause pain at different times. We are able to treat these with different types of treatments. Deep cleanings and/or antibiotics placed under the gums are different ways that we are able to help relieve the gum pain that you may be experiencing.
