Your child's first visit to the dentist can be scary for the kids and the parents.  Here at Northwest Arkansas Family Dentist, Dr. Bowen prides herself in ensuring kids have a great first visit!

Your Child's First Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child's first visit should be within six months or the eruption of their first tooth.  That first tooth usually comes in around age 1. Parents ask Dr. Bowen, "why should I bring my baby to the dentist if they don't have all their teeth?"  Dr. Bowen lets parents know it is important to establish going to the dentist early as this helps the child get accustomed to the office in a fun way!

Trust Northwest Arkansas Family Dental with Your Child's Oral Care

At Northwest Arkansas Family Dental, we feel that these early visits also give parents the opportunity to establish relationships with Dr. Bowen.  Dr. Bowen is then able to the parents to ask questions and discuss the health of the child, like preventing cavities and gum disease.  At the first visit, your child will consist of a comprehensive exam by Dr. Beth Bowen.  For older children, a few x-rays are taken to determine the health of the teeth and supporting bone.  In our office, we use digital X-rays, which greatly reduces the amount of radiation used to produce these images.    Your child will also have a gentle cleaning and fluoride treatment by one of our amazing team members.
